What scares you?

Hello beautiful people!

Before I go in today, let me just ask a few questions and you can reply to them in the comments. When you sit still and close your eyes, what do you see yourself doing? What does your future life look like when you imagine/picture it? Are there things you see in your future but you’re not seeing in your present life? For me there are so many! I know it is God who puts dreams, goals and ambitions in our hearts but it is entirely up to us to actually make them happen because we all know He’s not going to come down and chase our dreams for us.

The one thing that holds us back from achieving our God given dreams or even venturing out to do anything out of the ordinary is fear.

False Evidence Appearing Real. Sometimes it’s all in your head

Oh I felt this on my way home today and I knew I had to share because I have been a victim of this bad boy several times. Those mental images you have of yourself doing one great thing or the other are not just silly imaginations, they are actually dreams which have been put on your heart for you to make a reality! Sometimes, we believers get so caught up with ‘waiting on God’ or ‘waiting for God’s time’ that several chances and opportunities pass us by without us even realizing it. Sometimes, it is just our fear of the unknown, fear of failure or even fear of our own greatness that holds us back.

Would you leave your comfort zone and your familiar surroundings to take up a job offer somewhere you have never been? Would you take the chance to try that new thing you’ve been meaning to, even if it doesn’t go well? Are you willing to step into the line of work you really want to do even if you can’t tell what the outcome is going to be? Will you still go ahead and chase your dreams even if the people around you don’t support you? What I’ve come to know about dreams and goals is that God gives them to each person privately. He won’t come and tell me about the dream He has put on YOUR heart, He will reveal it to YOU alone. You are the only one who knows what He has placed on your heart so until you are sure of how to make it a reality, you are better off keeping it to yourself. I’ve learnt this the hard way. Remember Joseph the dreamer in Genesis 37?

This is just a short one to encourage anyone who is being held back by fear to go on and be amazing at whatever they want to do.

You need to let go of the fear of:

  • Failure
  • Being judged- what others will think/say (this is the fastest & easiest way to lose yourself)
  • Not being good enough
  • Trying new things
  • Living your dream/walking in your purpose
  • Change
  • Loving and being loved
  • Rejection (I had this fear earlier today but later realized it was totally uncalled for)

Let’s talk about your dreams and ambitions. Do they scare you when you think of them? Good! That means you’re dreaming BIG. If your dreams don’t scare you then they are just normal and ordinary. Do you have any fears? What’s holding you back from doing what you really want to do?

Dare to dream big, dare to step out of your comfort zone and into your purpose, dare to do the things that scare yet excite you so much.

God loves you so very much and He’s always got you. He has promised never to leave or forsake you so go out there and be great! He’s with you every step of the way.

Love always,

Mrs A.
